Tips for French Country
Decorating on the Cheap
Having an obsession with decorating means I sometimes need to find ways to cut costs and decorate on the cheap. Today I want to share with you some of my favorite thrifty decorating tips so you can do more in your home with a lot less money!
Take a walk around your home and look for things that you can use in another room. Maybe you'll need to add a few other things with it, but it's a whole new look for the room.
This includes furniture. Do you have a side chair in your living room that could be used in your bedroom, or vice versa. How about dining chairs in your dining room that you could use as additional seating in your living room - just add super comfy chair cushions.
Do you have rooms in your home with things piling up, like laundry in a bedroom, baking bowls on the counter from the last time you were baking, magazines all over the coffee table.
Cleaning up all of this can really make a difference in how a room looks.
Take a few minutes to go through your basement, attic or closets. I know for me, I tend to store things - then completely forget about them. If this is you too - then the chances of finding pieces that you could use in your home now is very good.
If you have framed artwork that you no longer want, think about removing the artwork and painting the frames. Use the frames by themselves on a wall, or find new artwork for them. Do you have furniture that's a little out of style, but still in good shape - simply get out a paint brush and small can of paint. Vases and other ceramic ware can also be painted with a can of spray paint.
Someone’s trash if your treasures. Just look at these gorgeous pieces that can easily be found at yard sales and thrift stores. Small animals are a big thing right now. So if you come across some, pick them up and spray paint them gold - instant decor.
Thousands of finds just waiting for you to discover them.
This is what I'm talking about in using those pictures you no longer want. Just hang them in multiples on a wall for instant artwork.
My home is full of thrifty and even downright dirt cheap decor. It’s the way we elevate those thrifty items to work with the rest of our rooms so no one is the wiser that makes the difference!
